Workshop 2
Video for business, hands-on training for marketing and comms teams
Your team needs testimonials, event clips, explainers and social video every month, and an agency for every one isn't realistic. In this workshop I teach your people to plan, film, light, record and edit them properly on their own phones, with a routine they can repeat without me.

Who it's for
Marketing, communications and PR teams, charities, and small businesses who want to bring video in-house. No filming experience is needed. The team day is planned around the videos you actually need to make, so tell me what's coming up when you get in touch.
What we cover
- Picking the video that gets the result you need, whether a testimonial, explainer, event clip or social.
- Filming a two-person interview with simple two-point lighting.
- Choosing kit for your budget, without overspending.
- Helping people relax and sound natural on camera.
- Planning with a simple storyboard and shot list.
- Editing, captions, and getting the video found on your website and social channels.
By the end of the day
Each person or pair has planned, shot and edited an interview clip. You'll leave with a kit list matched to your budget, and a shared routine for the team.
How pricing works
A team day at your office starts at £1,395 + VAT for up to six people, and a full-day live online session for up to six people starts at £1,200 + VAT. Half days, full days and multi-day courses are quoted for your team, and one-to-one sessions are priced on request. The final price depends on how many people, where, and how long. Tell me those three things and I'll send a short plan and a fixed price within two working days, with no obligation. A 50% deposit confirms the date. If you'd like me to book a room in London, the hire cost is added at cost. Full workshop terms.
A typical day
| 10:00 | Brief |
|---|---|
| 10:30 | Shoot |
| 12:30 | Lunch |
| 13:15 | Edit |
| 15:30 | Review |
| 16:00 | Close |
A sample full day. I adjust the timings for each group, and a half day runs for three and a half hours.
Who teaches it
Me, Nigel Camp. I taught video at General Assembly in London for close to ten years, including Mobile Video: Produce Content Like a Pro, Creating Video Content on a Budget and a one-day Video Production Bootcamp (archived instructor page). For Cambridge University Press I ran two-day workshops with the original presenter team of the Learn English with Cambridge YouTube channel, which went on to reach 175,000 subscribers (checked October 2026). And I wrote The Video Effect (Rethink Press, 2014).
I still film for a living. Through DevilBoy Productions, which I set up in 2011, I've filmed for clients such as ICE, CBRE, Freshworks and Kew. The phone setup I use on paid jobs is in my guide to filming an interview on your phone.
How it compares
Free online courses such as HubSpot Academy teach video marketing strategy. This one teaches your team to make the videos. Compared with corporate trainers, you get a working filmmaker and author, and a day planned around the videos your team actually needs to make.
Team training and consultancy
If you'd rather not train the whole team, I also do advisory work. That might be a second opinion on a brief before it goes out, a review of the videos you already have, or help setting up a simple kit and workflow for one or two people to run. That side of my work is through nigelcamp.com, or just get in touch.
